Kink Roundtable Check In – Before Folsom Episode Transcript

This week, Clay, Ronen, Ever and Todd do a quick little check-in regarding our trip to the Folsom Street Fair at the end of the month.

What are we going to wear?

How do we strike a balance between being ourselves and being podcasters at such an amazing event?

Well, let's check it out.

So, we're going to record some promo stuff, podcast intros.

I thought we should sit down and do a quick check in, see how we're all doing.

And I just happened to have received a delivery from That's the Point out of Washington State.

They were recommended by Miss Kitty, Miss Kitten.

What did we get here?

Gum.

Gum, stickers, some pens for surgical marking.

And you got to hold it up like an influencer.

Needles.

Two inch, 20 gauge needles.

That looks nice.

100-pack sterile.

Yes.

Yeah.

So not a gentle, but not too rough either.

Yeah.

The piercer's paradise.

Love that.

I got to add more kinky stickers to my water bottle so that I can flag in public.

So that's exciting.

New needles.

Those are like reusable ones that you can just sanitize.

And well, well, technically you could, but the problem is, I think the biggest issue is that any rigorous cleaning and you're, you risk dulling the tip.

That makes sense.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It just makes it more difficult to get it through without the sharpest of bevels to...

I mean, they're, they end up being like 35 cents a piece.

So it's like...

It's okay to be replacing them.

Yeah.

Using them once.

Gotcha.

We're going to Folsom soon.

Yeah.

Very excited about that.

Yeah.

That is going to be very fun.

I know my mind is swimming with like so many ideas, and also yet no ideas at all.

just like kind of going into it with a very open mind.

Uh, I want to see as much as I can and do as much as I can.

And I will be balancing between the observing and doing my own, getting my own freak on, you know?

Yeah.

Observing the freak and also getting my own freak on, hopefully.

Yeah.

Um, but I've yet to decide what exactly that will look like for me.

Uh, I think more importantly is creating the structure to be, the language to be able to articulate when I do want something, when I figure out, oh, I'm having an idea here.

Yeah.

Yeah.

because I imagine my head will be swimming with ideas and it will be overwhelming to pick amongst them or articulate exactly what it is that I want.

So more so having my limits in mind and having a language to take with me to communicate that with the people that I'm with or the people that I meet.

Yeah.

I think I was going to put together an itinerary because we're staying at two different locations.

We're going to be in town for five days.

And then I have to take a look at the what's actually going on for the event.

We've got friends that are vendors there, and we've got some podcast interviews lined up.

So like establishing a schedule, and then taking into account the various freaky activities and like kind of creating, because we're all kind of neurodivergent, and I think we'd all benefit from having a sense of what the structure is.

And like, I don't know, for myself, like I think knowing when I can let loose and be a freak myself rather than an observer is a good idea like ahead of time.

And then like as part of a team, you know, a city that we're not native to, kind of knowing what to expect from each other going in, like what might overwhelm us, and what's our signs of being overwhelmed, and what do we need to do to decompress if we get overwhelmed by what's going on.

And when to leave us the fuck alone so we can do our thing.

You know, that's kind of a good thing to communicate.

because like even though we're going into a very queer environment, and it's going to be very welcoming on a certain level, it's also, we don't know the thousands of people that are around us, and...

Nor have I been in an environment like that before.

So, I'm unfamiliar with those vibes, really.

I mean, I've been in similar environments, but I don't know exactly what to expect from all this.

So, I don't know how I'll react or feel.

I can only just prepare like action items for when I do start to feel away.

Yeah.

I'm really excited to check out the vendors that are going to be there.

Yeah.

I've been looking.

Central Oregon has nothing in the way of leather.

So, I, like, I've gone to pretty pussy out there, loved them there.

But I've been on the hunt for a good, like, pup hood for a while.

And there just aren't very many options there.

So, I'm excited to go and see, you know, what leather vendors are there and see if I can find something for myself, because that's been on my checklist for a minute.

Or find someone, find the resource to get that thing if it's not there.

Exactly.

Like, you will be able to communicate with people who probably do know where you could get a good pub hood.

Like, if not here right now.

Somewhere.

Yeah.

Totally.

Yeah, that's exciting.

I kind of want to get new leather, too.

Yeah, you know, I don't want to be purchasing items.

I don't...

Actually, before we wrap up, I need to measure your head, because I'm ordering a...

A sensory deprivation hood, because we want to go to Folsom with a hood to...

For you to adorn at least a little bit.

just to walk around.

For funsies.

Yeah.

I've got to figure out how to wear.

I know.

just kind of pull out all my leather, I guess, which is not very much.

It's two vests.

I think I have one leather harness.

Yeah.

Man, I'm telling you, those jockmail harnesses, yeah, they're really soft, and they're comfy.

I don't need it to be soft and comfy, though.

I want a leather harness.

I'll get a leather harness, then, but if you want...

You'll have to send me a link to this place.

I gotta get my Birkenstock boots.

Their soles are fucked up.

They're coming apart.

And I like those boots, so I want to get them fixed before we go.

And I might know someone who can do it themselves, or if not, I will take them to the shoe doctor.

The cobbler.

They suggested to me that I should maybe get or make a a leather tie to go with my button ups.

I've actually got some nice dark blue leather that I might make one out of.

That could be cool.
